Chapter Lead: Rupa Dachere
Rupa Dachere is the Executive Director and Founder of CodeChix.org, a fiscally sponsored project of Community Initiatives. She is also a Member of Technical Staff at VMware and holds Advisory roles at the Stanford GAP-For-Good program and the Dept. of Computer Science, University of Colorado, Boulder.
Rupa has worked at multinationals and startups spanning Telecom/Datacom, Mobile and Virtualization industries for about two decades. Her dream is to one day have parity in the number of female and male engineers in academia and industry. Rupa is a recipient of the IEEE EAB Award for Meritorious Achievement in Informal Education and the Anita Borg Institute, Pass-It-On Awards. Learn more about her at rupadachere.com.
Under her leadership, CodeChix has grown to over 1500 members and has chapters in the Bay Area and Seattle/Redmond. She has taken CodeChix from a grassroots group to a fiscally sponsored non-profit so that she and her excellent core team can bring technical workshops and events to all women (as well as men in some cases) that want to continue improving their skills and learning throughout their careers and life.
She is an active technical speaker and panelist and has spoken at Grace Hopper (2012, 2013), PyCon (2013, 2014), VMWorld, NCWIT Aspirations Award for High School Girls, International Women’s Day at Google, OSCON and many more.
